What Is a Pangram in Spelling Bee?
The simple definition
In a hive puzzle a pangram is a valid word that uses every one of the seven letters at least once. It still has to include the center letter and be at least four letters, which is automatic if it uses all seven.
Repeats are allowed. A word like DRUMMING can be a pangram when the hive is D, G, M, N, R, U and center I, because each letter appears and M appears more than once.
Why everyone hunts them
The word scores its length, then a flat seven extra points. DRUMMING is eight letters plus seven, so 15. That is the same as three separate five-letter words. On a small hive, one pangram can be the difference between Great and Amazing.
The header in HiveMate tells you how many pangrams the dictionary has for your letters. Zero means stop hunting. One means it is worth a focused search. Several means you should look for a shared root.
Perfect pangrams
A perfect pangram uses each letter once, so it is exactly seven letters long. It scores 14. There is no extra bonus beyond the normal +7. The feat is the tightness of the word, not a secret multiplier.
Many perfectly nice hives have no perfect pangram. Check the count before you rearrange the seven letters for half an hour.
