The 70 percent line is where the puzzle expects a strong player to feel finished. You have the pangram or you are close, you have the long stems, and the words left are specialist vocabulary. Stopping at Genius is not quitting.

On a 231-point sample hive, Genius is 162. You can get there without knowing every rare derivative of a stem you already found.

Queen Bee is a cleanup job

The last 30 percent is often four-letter words you skimmed and one awkward long word. It rewards a system: walk every two-letter pair you have not touched, including the pairs with a count of one.

If you want that cleanup without a full spoiler, open the two-letter list and nothing else. Each pair is a drawer. Empty the drawer, then decide if you still care.

Pick before you start

Choose the target when you sit down. Genius players should avoid answer pages entirely. Queen Bee players can budget one hint layer at the end. Mixing the two is how a casual morning becomes an answer-sheet afternoon you did not enjoy.
